MotoGP stars Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen will fly to Perth straight after the Australian MotoGP in early October, to headline a fundraiser for Variety WA – the children’s charity.
Perth motorsport fans can meet the motorcycle superstars at an evening function where both Capirossi and Vermeulen will sign autographs and mingle with the crowd.
The function is being organised by Fremantle-based company Wellard to raise money for Variety WA. At last year’s event more than $40,000 was raised for the children’s charity.
“The Perth motorsport community is both strong and generous, so we hope motorsport fans will grab this rare opportunity to meet these two motorcycle champions and to support Variety,” Wellard Managing Director Mauro Balzarini said.
Capirossi, who recently set a new world record for the greatest number of Grand Prix starts (227 races), is highly regarded in the sport, not just for his longevity, but his skill and affable nature.
He currently sits in 9th position in the 2008 MotoGP championship.
Chris Vermeulen is establishing a great reputation among his fans for the time he gives to his fans. He has climbed to 11th position in the MotoGP standings after a poor start to 2008.
