Created to develop a leading international agri business, Wellard Agri has acquired an impressive property portfolio of 33,500ha of farmland in Western Australia since December 2009.
Our long term objective is to develop a global soft commodities business through vertical integration, controlling the process from “paddock to plate”.
The creation of production “Agri-hubs” in Kojonup , Watheroo and The Grange (Dongara) allows us to optimise outputs and cost-effectiveness, deploy world class technologies to improve land productivity in the medium term, and create economies of scale and scope to maximize food security and productions.
The three properties in Watheroo, four in Kojonup and three at The Grange provide diversity of climate, soil types and production. All farms will continue to be run by local farm managers, utilising a machinery ring to improve capital expenditure efficiencies. We will also continue to share Wellard’s strong commitment to local communities.
As part of our purchase of the Hyfield and Crossburn properties at Kojonup, Wellard purchases the Hyfield Poll Merino Stud, which will continue to operate as normal. The services of Hyfield stud-master Kevin Keatley have been retained to continue breeding commercially-focused, large framed, heavy cutting Poll Merino sheep.
Wellard Agri also owns and operates the CLAAS Harvest Centre at Katanning, after forming a partnership with the CLAAS Australian distributor, Landpower.
